Once I went up on the roof. to take pics. Here are the first two, sort of spliced together. The roof is not set up for guests, but it would be a great place for a couple of tables.

The hostal gets its name from the owner's nick name, Chukito. The owner's son is named Pintag. Pintag has always been one of the most positive, helpful people I have met in Otavalo. He has helped me several times with the homeless and abused young people here. When I first told Pintag about them he offered to let them come and take a hot shower and also use the washing maching to wash their clothes. He also offered to help them with some extra clothes. Then one day he invited me to go to the snowy mountain top of Cayambe and he told me to invite the boys to come alone. Three boys did come and they had a great time. Here are some pics from that day. The other people at the hotel have also been very friendly and helpful.
In the hotel room itself the first thing I liked was the very hot, hot water. I also liked that the sink had hot water, not just cold water like so many bathrooms in Ecuador. The building is brand new, so every thing is very clean and modern.
In the lobby there are also computers, a scanner and a special printer which prints high quality photos. They may also have Interenet service soon.
